Air source heat pumps take the Apple!
December 22nd, 2009 by penny East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) in partnership with Community Energy Solutions (CES) have been awarded a Green Apple Environment Award for their renewable heat partnership scheme and are delighted to have brought the coveted award back to the region. The Apple was scooped for a joint project which has brought hundreds of householders across East Riding warmer and greener homes through the provision of renewable heating and insulation measures, and advice. The Community Energy Renewables Project, lead by Community Energy Solutions (CES), aims to reduce levels of fuel poverty in rural East Riding of Yorkshire, to increase the profile of air source heat pumps and to encourage more people to see them as an alternative when their heating system needs replacing. |

New Wortley resident celebrates hat trick of fortunes in a year

A New Wortley resident has had the most memorable year in a long time… Not only has Diane Willey of Clyde Walk just retired from her council job after 34 years service, and celebrated her ruby wedding anniversary, she has also had gas fitted to her home allowing her to have central heating for the first time in her 65 years. New Wortley in Leeds is the first area of many that is to benefit from the partnership between Northern Gas Networks and Leeds-based community interest group Community Energy Solutions (CES). |

Richmondshire is set to benefit from renewable heating scheme
December 22nd, 2009 by penny Householders in Richmondshire are to benefit from warmer homes following the installation of an air source heat pump in a Scorton home. The project, which aims to bring renewable heating systems and insulation measures into whole communities, will be lead by Community Energy Solutions (CES) in partnership with Richmondshire District Council (RDC) and Vale & Dale Home Improvement Agency. The council has given the project its seal of approval after CES arranged a demonstration installation for a council house in Scorton, thus enabling the partnership to move into selected wards within Richmondshire. |

Fuel Poverty Tackled with Fryston Residents
December 22nd, 2009 by penny A village in Wakefield is the newest community to join the fight against fuel poverty, welcoming the opportunity of affordable warmth offered to them by Community Energy Solutions (CES) and Northern Gas Networks, thanks to Wakefield Council and the financial support of Yorkshire Forward. Work is underway in the village of Fryston, as part of Wakefield Council’s work with CES who are laying gas mains and services within budget. Through working with Yorkshire Forward and Northern Gas Networks the partnership has made significant savings on the project which is part of the wider regeneration plans for the area. |

New Wortley gas connection plans given green light
July 9th, 2009 by Colin Plans to install long-awaited gas supplies into a West Yorkshire housing estate have been given the official thumbs up.
New Wortley in Leeds is the first area that will benefit from the partnership between Northern Gas Networks, West North West Homes Leeds (WNWHL) and Leeds-based community interest group Community Energy Solutions (CES). However, thousands more homes could also benefit now contracts have been signed.
The partnership between the three organisations will hopefully see up to 380 homes in New Wortley enjoying gas-fuelled heating and hot water systems before the winter. Work on extending the gas mains into the estate are now planned to commence on July 13th.
Many of the homes in New Wortley are managed by WNWHL and these will initially enjoy free gas connections. At the same time, CES will also provide ‘whole house’ energy efficiency measures, free benefits advice and energy efficiency advice for private and social properties. CES is a non-profit |

Residents and Local MP Fight Fuel Poverty with Joined-up Thinking
November 15th, 2008 by Christian A scheme which aims to fight fuel poverty across Yorkshire and Humber by connecting communities to cheaper and greener fuel supplies has been given the seal of approval from one of the Government’s most senior figures. The MP of Pontefract and Castleford, The Right Hon Yvette Cooper MP, paid a visit to the residents of the Half Acres estate in Castleford to look at the work Community Energy Solutions (Yorkshire and Humber) has completed in the area. It is being done in conjunction with a major home improvement programme by Wakefield and District Housing (WDH). Ms Cooper took time to talk with Sue Greenwood who lives in a WDH-owned property on Sheldrake Road in Half Acres.
