Heat-pump Installer Training at Myson, Gateshead
March 2nd, 2010 by jonathan

Following the Mobilisation of Micro-Renewables event on the 5th of November 2009, CES is pleased to announce that it has opened it’s new heat pump training centre in conjunction with Myson on the Team Valley, Gateshead.

The training is a series of one-day courses on each of Daikin, HeatKing and Mitsubishi air source heat pumps, delivered by the manufacturer’s own trainers and covering installation, servicing and trouble shooting. It is open to all central heating engineers in the North East and is free of charge.  On completion of the course installers will be approved to fit and maintain heat pumps of each manufacturer whose training they attend. They will therefore be well placed to take advantage of CES’ tendered prices for heat pumps.

If you would like information, or to attend a course, please contact us for available dates.  Once we have confirmed your attendance dates, we will ask you to fill in and return an application form for each installer’s course you wish to attend.

Please contact Jonathan Cripps (jonathan.cripps@communityenergysolutions.org.uk; 0191 537 7230) or Penny Stobbs (penny.stobbs@communityenergysolutions.org.uk; 0191 537 7208) to book a place on a course.

Mobilisation of Micro Renewables – A Business Opportunity
December 10th, 2009 by penny

Introduction of the Micro Renewables event on November 5th 2009  by Chief Executive Officer Chris Leek.

Climate Change is a major concern in the UK at local, regional and national levels. Tough targets have been set to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and the North East is leading the way in meeting these challenges head on.

CES is at the forefront of the region’s drive for the use of renewable energy technologies. Air Source Heat Pumps are one such technology; they extract heat from the air and pass it into a central heating system providing cheap clean energy. CES has identified 25,000 North East homes which could benefit from this technology.

North East energy group appoints senior MP as Chairman
July 9th, 2009 by Christian

A North East based community interest organisation has pulled off what it describes as a ‘major coup’ by appointing one of the Government’s most senior figures as its chair of the board.

The Rt Hon Hilary Armstrong MP, Member of Parliament for North West Durham, is the new chair of Boldon-based Community Energy Solutions (CES), a non-profit distributing organisation which oversees the implementation of a number of gas mains extensions and other renewable energy programmes in communities across the North of England, including many in the North East.

CES, partly funded by One North East in this region, is now working under a new remit and will focus its attentions on promoting micro-renewable options in both the ‘able-to-pay’ and social housing sector in the North East. This means offering advice and help to those who want to reduce their carbon footprint by installing eco-friendly technologies such as wood burning stoves or individual air source heat pumps.

July 9th, 2009 by Colin

North East-based Community Energy Solutions (CES) will become the focus of Europe today (Wed 13th) to see how it is successfully tackling the issue of providing renewable home heating solutions to off-gas communities.

MEP for North East England, Fiona Hall, who sits on European Parliament’s Industry Research and Energy Committee, will be showing Environment committee member and Danish MEP Johannes Lebech around a range of successful projects CES has completed in the region.

The whistle-stop tour of the region will take in projects in North Blyth, Gateshead, Derwentside and Middleton-in-Teesdale. They are all ambitious schemes that have been completed or are currently underway, where CES has been able to pull together the relevant technical and financial assistance to help those living off the gas mains supply and in so-called fuel poverty.
